Story of Life will focus on education and training, citizen first-hand reporting, relying heavily on tools most accessible to IDPs (for example, mobile phones, cheap cameras, pencils, paper and cheap audio recorders) the emphasis will not be on the technology. We will focus on teaching the skills that will make it possible for IDPs to author their experiences by creating personal stories of displacement and daily challenges. Our four-day training will take place in June 2014 and we are looking for a university to help us host this training.
Technology: Building on HablaCentro Not For Profit, Story of Life will use an online platform and website which will integrate with social media (Twitter, Facebook and YouTube), provide for multi-media postings – text, audio, photo and video – via phone and internet, and allow participants to share their reporting in English and Arabic. Additionally, we will form partnerships with local media to help us verify reports of corruption and broken government promises.
